Communications, Education & Marketing (CEM) Committee
The CEM committee focuses on the Communication, Education, and Marketing for the club. From a communications perspective, the committee manages the social media, graphics, and weekly email for the club. The main educational programming that CEM organizes is the recurring learning series called BIMBY (Beers in My Back Yard) which features speakers on issues related to the affordability crisis in San Diego. Finally, the committee also helps to create merchandising such as buttons and t-shirts, and manages the continuing evolution on the website.
The Endorsement committee focuses on coordinating the club’s entire endorsement process. This includes the development and administration of endorsement questionnaires, correspondence with candidates, and helping manage the endorsement process at club meetings in accordance with club by-laws. A list of endorsed candidates can be found on the Endorsement page of our website.
Members, Outreach, Recruitment & Empowerment (MORE) Committee
Focused on member retention, community outreach, recruitment, and empowerment, the MORE Committee is a broad group that is focused on a singular goal: bolstering and growing the YIMBY Dems movement in San Diego. Common activities include, phone banking, speaking to city council, mobilizing protests, activist training, and speaking to other community groups about YIMBY.
The policy committee analyzes state and local policy affecting the San Diego region and provides endorsement recommendations to the general membership for proposed legislation and ordinances. The committee also works with other housing advocates to develop and support pro-housing policies.
